I haven't blogged in a while...Ok in ages.  And I have a very good reason too - I'm working.  Ah, the working life.  Get up early, take the bus to work, run after kids all day, clean up blood and tears, crumbs and spills, calm down screamers, make sure the quiet ones have fun.  Then take the bus home, collapse for a few hours, eat, clean up, maybe watch TV and then try to get to bed early.  Jesse and Beth came to the day-camp where Emma and I have been working last week and the week before.  Now they're going to our church camp.  Monday was a good day, but Monday night I got the dreaded "I'm getting a cold feeling".  On Tuesday I was tired in the morning, short of patience later on.  But when I started to get that happy, drowsy feeling I knew I was sick.  This morning I woke up early, and after half an hour decided to go back to bed.  So my sister had to take the bus to work alone (yeah, she was really happy about that...Not).

Enough about my sickness though.  Camp really has been awesome.  Let me tell you about some of the kids.  Mary- sweet and pretty as a flower, so that's the camp name I gave her.  She's best at giving hugs, skipping and the monkey bars.  Marc Anthony- this kid is adorable and a genius to boot.  He knows all the planets in order and was reading the introduction in my Lord of the Rings book on Tuesday.  And he's only 7!  Surina- She screams all the time, throws temper tantrums, and doesn't usually want to play what we're playing.  But she gives the best hugs, and I'm developing through her a virtue in which I was sadly lacking: patience.  Marc Andrew- an absolute scoundrel who loves to be chased, which works well because he also loves to tease.  At the swimming pool he frequently tries to drown himself...Not really, but every so often you have to grab him to let him breathe.  We're still not sure if he can swim, but he sure loves the deep end.  Cyrus- the most mature kid at camp...He's on the brink of being a pre-teen.  Unfortunately sometimes his maturity can give him a bad-boy attitude, but usually he's great.  Beckham- actually his real name is Tyrell, but after learning that he was a good soccer player we dubbed him Beckham, or "Becky" as some of the guys call him :).  He skipped a week of survivor island summer camp for soccer camp. Grr...  Liam Perry- his mom is Filipino but his dad is a NEWFY! woohoo!  The sweetest kid and very mature for his age.

So there are some of the kids.  I'll try to include more of them as the weeks move on.  Next week we'll be heading to Newfoundland for a few weeks.  That will be fun...If I'm better by then...

I've been learning in devotions that I'm a princess.  I mean I knew that, but sometimes we all need to realize it again.  Think about it.  God is King of the universe, and we are His children, so that makes us royalty!  That's a very cool thought, but it also come with a responsibility.  We have to act like the princes and princesses we really are.  In how we treat others: Christians and non-Christians, members of the opposite sex, our friends and family.  In how we respect ourselves.  In how we dress, act, speak.  The things we watch on TV or in theatre, the things we listen to or take part in, how we dress.  So I've been trying to act like a princess.  Some might think it is pretty high and mighty to think of yourself as a princess and try to live it out all day, but it is actually very humbling.  True royals don't stick up their noses and look down on everyone.  Rather they act in honour.  Being entrusted with a title like "princess" should be humbling because as such you have a responsibility to live up to the title and use it for good.  People will be watching you, and who you are could affect what they think of nobility, and of the King.  In the same way, people are watching us and what they see in us will affect the way they think of Christians and of the King, God.  We should be humbled by the honour of being called God's own, and we should do our very best to live out the truth.  We cannot take it for granted that we sis not used to be princess and pincesses, but beggars and thieves, the lowest.  But Christ, the high Prince bought us with His blood.  How do we live u to that ransom price?  How do we treat out titles?  With respect?  Or do we shame them as we walk into the gore-filled movie , or choose the skimpier outfit from our closets.  Yes, it's hard, and yes we might feel like quitting.  But God is by our side.  I'm reminded of a quote from Princess Diaries.  Yes, maybe it's corny to use a quote from a Disney movie in relation to our walk with God, but it fits.  Mia askes her friend and protector Joseph if she can simply "quit" being a princess.  Jo looks at her and says, "No one can quit being who they really are".  Just something to think about.

"All glorious is the princess within her chamber, her gown is interwoven with gold.  In embroidered garments she is led to the king."
Psalm 45: 13-14
